About

Arun's bio

Arun Manta is a US based computer programmer and Fractal artist.

Arun was born and grew up in the Himalayan mountains of north India. After graduating with an engineering degree in Computer Science immigrated to the United States.

Arun's journey into the universe of fractals began as a programming curiosity, culminating in a profound aha moment when he realized the connection between fractal shapes and mind states. He realized the use of fractal shapes as consciousness changing instruments since prehistoric times, reflected in all spiritual art and architecture.

Arun creates his artwork specifically to shift the viewer's consciousness to a positive timeless state.

Arun's Process for Creating the Art

Arun Manta's artwork is created using fractal imaging software on a computer. He uses programs such as Xenodreams, Apophysis, Sterling and Mandelbulb.

The fractal images are created by entering a mathematical equation. The computer transforms the equation into a rendering.  It takes Arun 7-30 days to find the right equation for each fractal image.

Since each fractal mathematical equation is infinite, the images have a huge level of detail.  Each image rendered in full scale, is approximately 5' x 5'.

The fractal images are then animated. It takes 30 fractal images to make 1 second of animation.  Each image takes the computer 1-15 minutes to render.

Arun produced a 20 minute animated movie.  It took 1 year for the computers to render 36,000+ images.

Arun's Art Background

Arun first started developing computer fractals as a hobby, because he noticed the process had a calming effect on his psyche.

After reading the book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by  Betty Edwards, his artistic ability was, literally, transformed.  He learned the enormous value of utilizing the right hemisphere of the brain.

"Pure Contour Drawing, I believe, causes L-mode (left brain) to drop out....R-mode (right brain) then...going deeper and deeper into ever expanding complexity.  There is some similarity, I believe, to the phenomenon of fractals, in which whole patterns are constructed of smaller detailed whole patterns, which are constructed of even smaller, detailed whole patterns." - Betty Edwards, pg. 93

Not only were his artistic perceptions deepened, but he found a scientific explanation confirming the fractal healing effect.

How do Fractal Yantras work?

Manta's art "therapy" is used to bypass the left-side of the brain.

By focusing our attention on his holistic mandalas, we calm and deepen our thought process. Their intriguing nature induces a trance-like state and opens the right-side of the brain.

The right-side of the brain controls our behavior, interpersonal skills, self-esteem, self-awareness, and insight. Awakening our right brain allows our reflective, intuitive wisdom to emerge.  When we connect with the right-side of our brain, we create positive change in our reality.

Arun believes this to be profound.  By clearing old ways of being and awakening the light and grace stored within our own DNA, we are on the threshold of making a quantum leap of consciousness, for all mankind.

Manta proposes fractals as the next step in the evolution of art, because of their enhanced ability to impact the human psyche. Because fractals are visual representations of infinity, when viewing them, our mind enters a state of timelessness and heightened awareness. This awakened state of being is the same awe we feel when seeing a thing of great beauty, or having a deeply moving mystical experience.

Manta's artwork has been used in hypnotherapy.  His visual chromo-therapy, has been combined with Bea Solya's subliminal hypnosis, on a blu ray disc called "Chakra Healing".  In this movie, Manta creates a deep penetration into the subconscious. The movie facilitates profound psychological transformation and allows new patterns of behavior to take hold within.

Manta's amazing colorful animations have the life enhancing capacity to heal and uplift our spirit, as we watch and refresh our soul.

The History of Yantras

Yantra is a Sanskrit word meaning a visual symbol of mystical power, used to promote health and inner balance.

Yantra is the third part of an ancient Vedic mystical trinity: Tantra, Mantra and Yantra. Tantra engages the kinesthetic, Mantra the auditory and Yantra the visual sense to induce a heightened state of awareness.

In Sanskrit, enlightenment is referred to as Moksha or Nirvana.  These three techniques/tools (Tantra, Mantra and Yantra) are the basis of yoga.  Yoga is practiced in pursuit of Nirvana.

Manta's artwork is a therapeutic fractal Yantra.

Arun's Inspiration

Arun Manta combines his experience in computer software along with his Eastern spiritual upbringing, in a vision of transforming humanity to a higher level of consciousness, through his artistic expression of fractal art.

He believes the highest purpose of art, is to change human consciousness.  Manta's intent is to manifest peace, happiness and well-being. He believes universal clarity for all, begins in our own mind.

Arun is personally inspired by the works of Alex Gray, MC Escher, William Blake, Ernst Haeckel, Hokusai and unknown prehistoric shaman artists of Lascaux.
